Joanne Hallett

My name is Joanne Hallett and I live just near the beautiful Peak District in Derbyshire. When I turned 60, I decided to fulfil the lifeling dream of becoming a published author. Over the last few years, I have written many short stories - some had even been entered into competitions (and done well!) - and most of them have received amazing feedback from my NHS colleagues at the hospital where I work.

So, in April 2026, my first book Gentle Deception was born! And the reviews have been amazing!

Gentle Deception is a collection of 12 short stories, with relationships, and their twists and turns, at its heart. Each standalone story is an easy, quick read, very accessible and perfect for a day on the beach or a cosy night in! It is already on its second print run, has received high acclaim. I love to receive positive reviews and am enjoying immensely the journey of my new found career. I have been busily promoting Gentle Deception whilst working on a second collection of my trademark twisty short stories.

So far, my book has travelled the world and been read in some very exciting locations such as Vietnam and USA (I receive photos of it being enjoyed from all across the globe most days!) and I update my Facebook page, Joanne Hallett - Author, with some of the destinations where Gentle Deception has travelled.
